Every new year allows some adults to develop goals for the year. Why create goals? Iyanla Vanzant says, "if you do not have a vision, you are going to be stuck in what you know. And the only thing you know is what you have already seen." The hope for many adults is before the end of the year we will be able to accomplish some or all of the goals we listed. However, what about creating goals for our children? Our family?
We, the founders of KidsSTREAM, are challenging all of our families this year to do the following:
Write down a mission statement for your family.
Write a vision statement for your family (where you see the family be in five or ten years from today).
Involve input from the entire family that lives in the house.
Wise families create a mission, articulate the vision, passionately own it, and relentlessly drive it to completion. Writing your mission, vision, and goals helps to hold you and your family accountable to each other. It also allows you to come together as a solid unit to fulfill your destiny. Besides, as Dr. Myles Munroe states, "when you believe in your dream and your vision, then it begins to attract its own resources. No one was born to be a failure."
